McGahan Racing Ends Year With a Win,
and
Another Twin City Raceway Championship
Tuesday, Jan. 16th
The 2006 season saw the McGahan Racing team take one more Twin City Raceway championship. Cameron picked up his points title at Twin Cities for the 3rd time, while Jackie rallied to take a 3rd place finish in points even after missing the last 2 race events.
The season ended in dramatic fashion as the Northern Lights Dirt Series made its annual stop in Kenai for the early September "Night Race." The event for the first time brought in an outsider, Kevin Huntley jumped in the seat of a car built by fellow Alaska drivers John McDonald, and Todd Van Huizen. The week before Kevin dominated the the races at the Alaska State Fair, winning 4 of 4.
However when Huntley came to Kenai, he faced Cameron's home-track advantage. The two raced evenly thoughout the night, and in the feature the two lined up in the back, side-by-side. Cameron made his way to the front quickly working a fast top line, but Huntley wasn't far behind. When the checkers fell Cameron and Huntley were 1-2.
