Cameron McGahan Catches the Attention of Bryan Clauson Inc.
Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Earlier this year Cameron had the opportunity to meet and race for, 1995 BCRA Midget Champion, Marc DeBeaumont. Also on hand that weekend was Tim Clauson, father of NASCAR Nationwide Series, and USAC star Bryan Clauson. Tim and Marc did and amazing job of coaching Cameron through the weekend, which was Cameron's first time in a Midget.

Debeaumont fielded two midgets that weekend at Shasta Raceway Park; one driven by Cameron McGahan, the other driven by Shane Hmiel. McGahan and Hmiel worked closely together throughout the night, placing them both in the Feature. Hmiel took the win, and McGahan was in place for a 4th place finish before he was caught up in a last lap/turn 4 incident. Although the bad luck on the last lap, Cameron's efforts were enough to impress Tim Clauson who offered Cameron the chance to drive a Sprint Car in Indiana that he put together with the help of Tony Stewart Racing driver, Levi Jones.

In August Cameron traveled to Noblesville, Indiana, to meet up with Tim Clauson and Levi Jones. At the BCI race shop the #2 LJR/BCI non-wing sprint was fitted for Cameron and prepared for racing that night at Union County. It was the teams goal to use the next few nights as a learning experience to familiarize Cameron with driving a Sprint Car without a wing for the first time.

Cameron raced four nights in a row, at four different tracks, including Union County, Bloomington, Lawrenceburg, and Kokomo. Cameron came up to speed quick and showed tons of improvement every night. Cameron and Jackie are currently looking forward to putting another trip together as soon as possible.

Cameron McGahan will be back in Alaska, and racing next at the Alaska State Fair, August 30th and 31st.
